The Institute of New Energy Generation and Control Technology is a leading research group dedicated to advancing power electronics, renewable energy integration, and intelligent energy systems. Our faculty—Prof. Fujin Deng, Prof. Huafeng Xiao, Prof. Jianzhong Zhang, Prof. Qingsong Wang, Prof. Zhixiang Zou, and Prof. Chenwen Cheng—lead cutting-edge research across modular multilevel converters, energy storage, wind power systems, wireless power transfer, and grid integration. Together, we drive innovation from fundamental theory to engineering applications, supported by numerous national key projects and industrial partnerships.
Areas of expertise: Modular multilevel converters (MMC), HVDC systems, high-power motor drives, low-frequency AC transmission; micro-modular energy storage converters, lithium-ion battery state estimation, electric springs, and renewable energy integration; wind turbine optimal operation, and intelligent operation & maintenance of wind turbines; wireless power transfer (WPT), high-frequency resonant converters, motor drives, and grid-connected renewable systems.
Key Research Themes
Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) & HVDC: Topologies, protection, fault diagnosis, thermal optimization, and AI-driven reliability.
Energy Storage Systems: Micro-modular converters, battery management, state estimation, and lifetime prediction using data-driven methods.
Wind Energy Systems: High-performance wind turbines (DFIG, PMSG), low-voltage ride-through, load optimization, and intelligent O&M.
Electric Springs & Grid Integration: Single/three-phase and DC electric springs for distributed renewable energy self-consumption.
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT): Multi-load systems, load-independent outputs, resonant converters, and applications in electric vehicles and industrial systems.
High-Power Motor Drives & Diagnostics: Fault-tolerant drives, high-speed PMSM control, and condition monitoring.
