Recently, the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) announced the recipients of the 2025 IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship. Sun Bo, a master’s student at the School of Electrical Engineering at Southeast University, has been awarded this honor in recognition of his outstanding performance.

The IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship was established by IEEE PES in 2019 and is funded by the PES Endowment Scholarship Fund. It aims to recognize exceptional IEEE PES graduate student members who have chosen power and energy engineering as their academic and professional focus. As one of the highest honors for graduate students worldwide in the field of power and energy, the award requires applicants to be nominated by two to four reputable IEEE Senior or Fellow Members. Candidates are then evaluated by the selection committee based on three dimensions—academic achievements, societal contributions, and leadership capabilities. Ultimately, only 5–6 recipients are selected each year globally, with merely 1–2 coming from the Asia-Pacific region.

Sun Bo, male, was admitted to the School of Electrical Engineering at Southeast University in 2023 to pursue his master’s degree. Under the supervision of Prof. Yijun Xu and Prof. Wei Gu, Director of the Institute of Distributed Generation and Active Distribution Networks at Southeast University, his research primarily focuses on tensor-based computational methods for power system measurement data processing and analytical applications. He has achieved outstanding academic performance and demonstrated strong research capability, having received the 2024 Graduate National Scholarship and the First-Class Graduate Academic Scholarship of Southeast University in 2023. He has published three first-author research papers in leading journals such asIEEE Transactions on Power Systems,IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, andIEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics.
