Biography:

Wei Gu is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor inElectrical Engineering at Southeast University. He is the Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering and the Director of the Distributed Generation and Active Distribution Network Institute. He is the recipient of the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for Distinguished Young Scholars and was selected for the National Youth Talent Program. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and serves as the Vice Chair of four IEEE PES Subcommittees. His research focuses on integrated energy systems, power system simulation, distributed generation, microgrids,and distribution networks. Prof. Gu is the Principal Investigator (PI) of one National Key Research and Development Program of China, one Joint Fund Project of NSFC, three General/Youth Projects of NSFC, the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province for Distinguished Young Scholars, and one Work Package of the National Key Research and Development Program of China. As the first contributor, he won one First Prize of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award, one First Prize of the China Electric Power Science and Technology Award (CSEE), one First Prize for the Science and Technology Award of the China Simulation Federation, one Second Prize for the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China, and two Gold Medals of the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions. He is an Editorial Board Member for six journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Automation of Electric Power Systems, etc. He has authored over 150 refereed articles in SCI-indexed journals and authorized 60+ National Invention Patents of China and five US Invention Patents.

In June 2018, Prof. Gu was selected as one of the Top-Ten Graduate Supervisors in Southeast University. He was awarded the title of Jiangsu Teacher of the Year in 2019. In May 2020, he was granted the Youth May Fourth Medal of Southeast University.
