On November 23,2025, the 7th "Southeast Electric Power Economic Forum & Symposium on Building and Operating Electricity Market Mechanisms Adapted to High-Share New-Energy Integration" was grandly held in Nanjing. This forum was jointly organized by the School of Electrical Engineering of Southeast University, the Power Market Committee of China Society for Electrical Engineering, the State Grid Power Demand Side Management Guidance Center, and the Jiangsu Provincial Society of Electrical Engineering. Sun Litao, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southeast University, and Xu Cheng, Standing Committee Member of the Gulou District Committee and Deputy District Mayor of Nanjing, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Hua Wei, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering of Southeast University.

The forum drew more than 300 representatives from government agencies, energy companies, research institutes, and universities. They engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as power market mechanism design and e-commerce trading strategies, offering suggestions to advance power sector reforms, facilitate the efficient participation of renewable energy in the market, and accelerate the development of a unified national power market and a new-type power system.

During the plenary session, Pan Yuelong, Supervisor-General of the China Electricity Council, along with officials from the Market Regulation Department of the National Energy Administration and the East China Regulatory Bureau, delivered keynote speeches on topics including power market development in the context of energy transition, the establishment of a unified national electricity market, and practical experiences in the Yangtze River Delta power market. Experts from the Beijing Electricity Trading Center, Guangzhou Electricity Trading Center, and Jiangsu Electricity Trading Center shared insights on the operational practices of a unified national electricity market under high renewable energy proportions, exploratory approaches to support new energy development in the southern regional power market, and Jiangsu's progress in third-party evaluation of power traders' professional skill levels.

The forum also received strong support from the Nanjing Gulou District People's Government. The district is actively developing a core cluster for green energy industries, leveraging the concentration of regional headquarters of central state-owned enterprises such as State Grid Jiangsu Company and the five major power generation groups. This initiative aims to attract upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, providing an excellent platform for "university-local-enterprise collaboration" and "industry-academia-research transformation".

The Third "Zhen Shan Cup" Electricity Trading Simulation Competition
During the forum, the third "Zhen Shan Cup" Power Trading Simulation Competition was held simultaneously. This competition was jointly organized by the School of Electrical Engineering of Southeast University, the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of Electrical Engineering and Automation of the Ministry of Education, China Power Development Promotion Association, Nanjing Gulou High-tech Zone Management Committee, Nanjing Gulou District Association for Science and Technology, and the Communist Youth League Committee of Nanjing Gulou District. The final of the competition gathered 60 teams of university students and social practitioners to compete on the same stage.
At the main forum, awards were presented to the winning teams. This competition not only established a vital practical platform for talent development in the power trading sector, but also, with its proactive positioning, injected strong momentum into the innovative development of the regional power industry, securing a leading position in the emerging energy and power sector.

Sub-forum Seminar-Industry Experts Discuss the Frontier Topics of Power Market
The latter half of the forum featured three specialized sub-forums, focusing on three key themes: "Research on Electricity Market Mechanisms and Trading Strategies for E-commerce Power Sales", "Development and Operation of New Business Entities (Virtual Power Plants)", and "Energy Security and System Resilience in the Context of New Energy Market Integration". Scholars from Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, Hefei University of Technology, State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, along with industry representatives, engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics including green electricity trading in the Yangtze River Delta region, market-based capacity guarantee mechanisms, and the application of artificial intelligence in electricity markets.

The Southeast Electric Power Economic Forum, a professional academic event co-hosted by Southeast University's School of Electrical Engineering and its Electric Power Economic Technology Research Institute, has successfully held for seven editions to date. In recent years, the forum has closely aligned with China's power market reforms and the "dual carbon" goals. Based in the Yangtze River Delta region and extending its influence nationwide, it serves as a high-level platform for scholars, industry representatives, and policymakers in the power economy sector. The forum has fostered positive interactions among research institutions, universities, and enterprises, establishing extensive industry influence.
