DisciplineElectrical Engineering

Brief Introduction of Discipline

The School of Electrical Engineering has a long and distinguished history which is over 80 years at Southeast University. Its origins can be traced back to the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Southeast University established in 1923. In 1960’s, the school of Electrical engineering was going to recruit postgraduate students. The first postgraduate training program was set up in 1978. And in 1986 the PhD program “Electric Machine” and “Power System and its Automation” was set up, followed by a post doc program in 1999. In 2000 the first level discipline namely “Electrical Engineering” was founded. The School of Electrical Engineering is one of the Key Units of “Project 211” and “Project 985”, also it is the key disciplines of Jiangsu Province, China.

The School has a wide range of research activities, namely (i) electric machines & equipment, (ii) power system and automation, (iii) high voltage technology and insulation, (iv) power electronics and electric drives (v) electrical information technology, and (vi) new energy generation and distributed power supply. Our researches focus on the power generation, transmission, conversion, control, utilization, storage, management, and cutting edge theory and critical technical problems including equipment development ,system operation, automation, signal processing, test analysis, economical management and computer application. We have significant advantages in the following areas: micro electric machine, power system relay and simulation, electrical information technology and power electronic application.

Training Objectives

Students will grasp Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, and Deng Xiaoping’s Theory, love the motherland, and abide by the laws and regulations. The students will enhance their capability of seeking truth from facts, rigorous learning, professional dedication, and the team spirit.Students will grasp professional knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, and development tools of software and hardware. Students will have systematic and thorough expertise, become specialized in experimental techniques used in his/her research areas, and be capable of conducting independent research in scientific fields. Students graduated with a Master degree are competent for the scientific research, technological development and teaching. The graduated students will be proficient in one kind of foreign languages.
